Growing up in poverty can often limit a young person’s worldview, especially when compounded by negative influences online and on social media.
Growing up in poverty can often limit a young person’s worldview, especially when compounded by negative influences online and on social media. At the Harrow Club, we are committed to using international youth work to broaden these horizons and create life-changing opportunities.
Through partnerships with youth organisations around the world, we offer young people the chance to explore new cultures, develop empathy, and gain experiences beyond their everyday environments. Our international youth work aims to foster global citizenship and challenge misconceptions by building meaningful connections across borders.
As part of our 140th-anniversary celebration in the summer of 2023, we hosted an incredible international youth camp, welcoming 38 young people and staff from France, Germany, and South Africa.
They joined over 50 of our own members and team. Throughout the week, shared activities—sports, music, art, games, meals, and camping—bridged cultures, creating friendships that surpassed language barriers. This experience didn’t end with the camp; it opened doors for future international youth exchanges and visits, further strengthening our global partnerships.
We’ve seen how international youth work can spark meaningful, lasting changes in young people’s lives. Building friendships with peers from different parts of the world fosters empathy, broadens perspectives, and inspires respect for diversity. In a time where intolerance and division can seem louder than ever, we are proud to promote international youth work that gives young people the tools to embrace diversity and become global citizens.
Looking ahead, we remain committed to expanding our youth work by developing new partnerships and creating more exchange programs. By giving young people the chance to experience different cultures firsthand, we empower them with the confidence, skills, and global awareness needed to thrive.
Our mission is clear: through international youth work, we will continue to connect young people to the world—and to each other—building bridges that promote empathy, understanding, and unity.
